Cross-section of a Fenstür 106 mm wood-aluminum-clad tilt-and-turn window
A real timber frame and sash with exterior aluminum cladding.

A wood window through its structure.

Fenstür’s frame and sash are engineered timber. The aluminum is exterior protection; the interior remains the wood species and finish you choose. This differs from a vinyl or fiberglass frame with a decorative wood-look surface. See our real wood versus wood-look comparison for the material differences.

Natural interiors

Select species, grain, stain or paint to coordinate with floors, cabinetry and interior doors.

Protected exterior

A separated, ventilated aluminum skin limits direct weather exposure of the timber and provides a powder-coated exterior finish.

Built in Canada

Plan for exposure and maintenance.

Cladding can reduce the work of maintaining an exposed timber exterior. It does not make a window maintenance-free. Keep drainage paths clear, inspect seals and hardware, clean the aluminum finish and review coastal exposure when specifying the coating.

All wood may suit a sheltered elevation or a project prioritizing timber on both sides. Cladding usually adds initial cost. Compare the same opening, glass and hardware when reviewing quotes in our wood versus wood-aluminum-clad guide.

Wood-aluminum-clad window questions

Are these real wood windows?

Yes. Engineered timber forms the frame and sash; aluminum protects the exterior. The interior is genuine wood.

Can I choose different interior and exterior colours?

Yes. Interior wood finishes and exterior aluminum colours can be coordinated separately. Confirm available coatings and physical samples before ordering.

Are all clad windows Passive House certified?

No. Fenstür has a listed 106 mm wood-aluminum window system, but the exact configuration, glazing and certificate limits must match the project. The 78 mm range and casement/awning products do not inherit that certification.

What information is needed for a quote?

Send your project location, opening schedule or approximate sizes, operation, glass requirements, interior finish, exterior colour and timing. Identify any Passive House or other performance targets.
