At Green Point in Cowichan Bay, the challenge went beyond thermal performance: window ingredients needed to satisfy both Passive House requirements and the Living Building Challenge materials requirements.
The complete wood-finish ingredient list had to be vetted. When manufacturers were reluctant to disclose proprietary formulas, Fenstür worked with a local coating company willing to provide the ingredient information needed for review. Its water-based finish was applied as a one-off specification for this order.

Picture and tilt-and-turn windows, tilt-and-turn balcony doors, lift-and-slide doors and entry doors, including Passive House certified window and door configurations.
The project
The home received Living Building Challenge Petal Certification in 2021 and was built to Passive House standards. Building certification and product certification are distinct.
